ESMHA is pleased to help signal boost A Rink for the Shore, a community-led initiative advocating for an additional hockey rink and a four-season, multi-use recreation facility to serve families across the Eastern Shore.

With more than 26,000 residents along the Eastern Shore corridor, our communities continue to grow while access to recreational infrastructure has not kept pace. The campaign highlights the challenges created by having only one indoor ice surface serving such a large geographic area, with some families traveling significant distances for practices, games, and other recreational opportunities.

For our Mariners families, additional local ice would mean more opportunities for children to play and develop, greater flexibility in scheduling practices and programs, and less time spent traveling away from our community for ice. Just as importantly, additional capacity would give organizations like ESMHA greater opportunity to grow hockey on the Eastern Shore and provide both recreational and competitive programming closer to home.

The vision extends beyond hockey: a modern facility could support ringette, figure skating, lacrosse, ball hockey, public skating and other sports, while providing year-round space for community programs, events, seniors and families.
